It’s great fun to bake yummy treats for friends and family, but wouldn’t it be nice to spoil your canine buddies with some home-made treats too? Every pet deserves to be pampered now and then, and these crunchy biscuits will have your doggy friends howling for more! They are easy and healthy, and with Christmas just around the corner, they would make gorgeous home-made gifts for all doggies great and small.

Crunchy Dog Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 3 cups parsley, chopped
  • ¼ cup grated carrot
  • ¼ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cups wholemeal flour
  • ½ cup bran
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup water

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line two trays with baking paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine parsley, carrot, cheese and olive oil. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, bran and baking powder. Tip this mixture into the parsley mixture along with ¾ cup of water and mix well. Add more water if necessary to create a stiff dough.
  4. Tip dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. Roll out to 8-10mm thick. Cut out your biscuits and place on prepared trays. Bake 50-60 minutes or until hard and crunchy.

Makes 26 biscuits with a 4x8cm cutter.
